Removal of moles

The safest way to cure an undesirable change in the skin is its removal. On this page, we want to dispel your doubts and fears about surgeries removing moles. Here we present methods of diagnosis and treatment of skin lesions according to the latest professional standards.

Treatment

Treatment consists of removal of all suspicious lesions which are to be transferred to microscopic examination, because only such study allows a diagnosis. The use of other non-surgical treatment (removal of moles by laser, cryotherapy, electrocautery) damages the removed tissue and thus makes proper identification impossible.

Changes that do not carry oncologic danger are also removed, but they should be eliminated, as there is a possibility of their becoming cancerous lesions particularly in irritable places such as the neck, the mouth, the armpits, or the groin.

The third indication for removal of skin lesions are the purely aesthetic reasons. Some moles are not nice to look at and even distort facial features. Because the lesions most commonly originate from the deeper layers of the skin, and it is difficult to determine their depth before surgery, the best method is the surgical removal. Laser and cryosurgery operate only in the superficial layers of the skin, and such intervention may lead to only partial removal of the change.

Laser surgery or electrocoagulation are methods that are applicable in the removal of epidermal changes such as fibroid tumors and warts.

Diagnostics

We invite you for a consultation appointment to diagnose skin lesions. Dr. Gromadziński is an oncologist with years of experience, and he will dispel your doubts about the moles and lesions on the skin.

A photodermatoscopic examination is completely painless and does not require any patient preparation. On its basis the physician assesses the changes and determines the further proceedings. If we are dealing with a suspicious change, it is recommended to remove the hazard, i.e. completely remove a mole or another change along with a margin of normal tissue. In most cases, the procedure can be performed immediately after the consultation. Such a change is surgically removed and the material is sent for histopathological examination to confirm the diagnosis and to ascertain whether a correct margin was maintained.

Why with us

Thanks to his specialization both in the field of surgical oncology and plastic surgery Dr. Gromadziński removes any change with plastic precision, which is especially important when changes occur in a visible place such as on the face. It also plays an important role in the case of extensive changes, where in addition to the removal of moles or other skin changes, a reconstruction of the defect or a skin graft needs to be made simultaneously.
