Description of treatment
Breast enlargement surgery involves the correction of breast shape using surgical implants. Breast augmentation is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures.
Breast augmentation procedure is performed under general anesthesia and lasts about 1.5 hours. After the surgery the patient remains in the hospital for one day.
Implants (prostheses) of breast are pouches filled with silicone gel (silicone prostheses) or saline (saline prostheses). All implants used in our clinic have the approvals and permits required by the Ministry of Health for use in Poland.
mplants may be introduced under the mammary gland or pectoral muscle (the choice of the method is dependent on many factors, including the size and shape of the breast, pectoral muscles condition, etc.). It is possible to perform one of the following cuts: in the fold under the breast - usually about 5 cm, around the nipple (areola cut) or by means of axillary cutting. The choice of incision and implant placement method is discussed with each patient. Placing the implant under the pectoral muscle is the best solution for women who are planning a child (because it allows for breastfeeding) and for prevention of breast cancer (no surgical intervention in breast means it is easier and clearer to observe any changes).

Facts
The implants need to be removed if you want to breastfeed.
Placement of implants under the pectoralis muscle does not affect the mammary glands. Women can therefore safely breastfeed. Also placing implants under the gland does not have to prevent you from breastfeeding. Placement of implants under the muscle, however, is safer for the patient (breasts can be easier examined; the breast has less contact with the implant; there is smaller tendency for breasts to drop).
Myths
Implants rupture on the plane.
This is one of the most commonly repeated myths about implants. Implants do not break during plane flights, women having implants can also dive safely or even. do bodybuilding.
Placement of implants reduces the risk of breast cancer.
Placement of implants does not affect the reduction of the risk of breast cancer. But the fact is that the statistics of detection and treatment of cancer in patients with implants are better than the average. This is because of the need to annually examine breasts with implants.
Preparation for the surgery
Each surgery is a burden for the human body. That is why our specialists always conduct interviews to qualify patients for surgery. General conditions for the surgery to be conducted include:
- good health (we do not perform procedures in patients with infections, particularly upper respiratory infections; anesthetic consultation is sometimes also recommended);
- procedures are not carried out during menstrual discharge, due to the reduced blood coagulability;
- it is necessary to test bleeding time and blood coagulation time, and perform complete blood count;
- it is necessary to perform breasts ultrasound or mammography - depending on the diagnosis we conduct further treatment and qualify for surgery (if the test shows changes in the breasts, we start their treatment after surgery);
- t is advisable that the patient was vaccinated against hepatitis B virus (infectious hepatitis), but it is not a necessary condition to perform the procedure.
During the consultation before the procedure the doctor selects the type, shape and size of implants and scar location (surgical approach) and the location of the implant (under the mammary gland or under the pectoral muscle).
Possible complications
In our clinic we put the greatest emphasis on providing patients with maximum safety. Each patient receives comprehensive information about the procedure, including about the possible complications (the doctor discusses them in detail during the consultation prior to the procedure).
Postoperative care
After the surgery, the patient remains in our Clinic for one day. Before leaving the clinic postoperative drains are removed and surgical bra is selected. The surgeon individually determines a period of wearing compression clothing / bra with dressing. In the period of convalescence excessive exercise and performing sudden painful movements is inadvisable.
Postoperative recomendations
After the operation, slight swelling of the breasts appears (it may persist for up to about three months, although some patients do not observe it at all). Initially, there may also be decreased or increased sensitivity of the areola and breast nipple. After consulting your doctor, you can use suitable products to accelerate healing of scars.
The shape of the breasts changes during the first 3-4 weeks after the surgery. Initially, breasts are hard (as a result of swelling and response of the body to surgical intervention), but sometimes take the expected shape, become soft and firm. It is also advised to wear a special postoperative bra (starting from the 3rd day after the surgery)using which you can walk without having to wear bandages.
Greater physical activity is prohibited for 2 months after surgery.
