Description of treatment
Soft tissue cancer is a cancer group occurring within the connective and adipose tissue (e.g., lipomas - degeneration occurring in adipose tissue) and muscles.
In our clinic we deal with the treatment and removal of benign tumors, such as lipomas. We also undertake a thorough diagnosis (biopsy and microscopic examination) of the nodule removed - depending on the diagnosis, we direct the patient for further treatment. The type and technique of surgery (e.g., type of anesthesia) are individually tailored to the patient, and the location and size of the affected places.
Treatment mostly takes place on an outpatient basis.
Facts
You can be predisposed (e.g. genetically) to the formation of lipomas.
Lipomas can occur in numbers, in that case we can speak of the so-called. lipomatosis, that is, the tendency to their formation.
Lipomas grow back after their removal.
Lipomas removed entirely do not grow back. They can, however, be multiple. Then, even after removal of a lipoma, another one may appear right next, which would have grown regardless of removal of the first lipoma.
Myths
The diet has an effect on the formation of lipomas.
Neither weight loss nor the quantity and quality of food you eat (including fat) affects the formation of lipomas - even very slim people can have them.
It is not worth removing lipomas, because at the place of removed ones there will be more anyway.
You should remove all lipomas, mainly because potentially every lipoma may change in liposarcoma, which is a malignant tumor. Not removed lipomas may further increase with time, which can be very painful in everyday functioning.
Preparation for the surgery
Given the location of lesions, their size and the consequent appropriate procedure technique selected for the particular case each patient is prepared for the procedure separately.
Postoperative recomendations
The doctor communicates the recommendations individually to each patient. Postoperative recommendations depend on the type and location of the lesion removed and the size of scars.
